The project was 20,000 square feet of a million square foot manufacturing facility in North Carolina. Our goal was to design and install a working vapor intrusion system in under a week. Communication testing showed limited airflow under the slab. Our standard way to address this problem would not be feasible because of the need to move large amounts of heavy machinery out of the space. An alternate approach was designed and approved to install four independent SSD systems. Each system was comprised of a suction pit and a high suction fan motor. Steel pipe was used within 8 feet of the floor to protect against accidental damage. The client had serious concerns about the amount of potential dust our process would create. An isolated work area was created to address this concern. Final pressure readings exceeded clients’ expectations and the project was completed in less than 7 days.
